 CONFINEMENT: Carolann McGeoch A PREGNANT bank teller who stole almost £30,000 from RBS branches in Alva and Stirling has been jailed for 18 months. Carolann McGeoch stole the cash by opening fake accounts and taking out loans in the name of customers including a university academic and a mentally ill man who lived in a residential home.

 COACHING: Gregor Townsend FORMER Scotland fly-half and current coach Gregor Townsend visited some of the Wee County’s budding rugby stars at Hillfoots rugby club last week. Gregor, who works for Positive Coaching Scotland, is helping to teach children that there is more to sport than winning.

 SWINE flu could force the council to close Wee County schools in a desperate bid to save cash. It is thought that as the pandemic spreads across the country, teachers will be most at risk of infection as hundreds of thousands of pupils return to school.

 SUPPORT: Alloa are helping local troops THE Wee County’s brave soldiers are to be given free passes to Alloa Athletic home games this season in a message of thanks from the club. Club officials say they are the first in Britain to welcome serving military personnel to their matches free of charge and hope that other clubs will follow suit.

 GAME TIME: Provost Stewart with the team WEE County athletes competing in the Special Olympics GB National Summer Games were given a super send-off from Alloa Academy last week. The Forth Valley team left from the school for the drive to Leicester where they will join over 2,700 athletes from all over the UK.
