Football louts banned for years

 THREE vicious Wee County football hooligans were hit with lengthy football banning orders last week after rampaging through Alloa.
 
Mindless Tullibody thugs Elliot MacRae and Lee McKellican, along with Leigh Wheater from Alva, were convicted after attacking supporters outside Recreation Park after Alloa’s glamour Scottish Cup tie against Aberdeen last January

 A MAN has admitted carrying out an axe attack in the Wee County after people threw bricks at his house.
 
David Dewar’s victim needed two internal stitches after being struck on the hip with an axe.

Alva pupils go made for Fairtrade fun day

Fairtrade Fun: Natalie Campbell and Ciara Barker
 ALVA Academy pupils and staff joined together last week to celebrate Fairtrade fortnight as they continued their bid to help third world producers get a better deal.
 
Members of the school’s charity committee held a Mad Hatters Tea Party during the morning interval with all teachers displaying their most outrageous head gear.

JUBILATION: David McClune celebrates
 ALLOA boss Allan Maitland hailed his side’s never-say-die attitude but warned his stars they would need to do better to claim the Second Division title.
 
The Wasps were outplayed for the majority of Saturday’s clash with bottom of the table Clyde and had to rely on a late wonder strike from David McClune to claim a point.

Tillicoultry man Sam Burns had been climbing the Cairngorms with his 32-year-old friend Paul Manson when disaster struck.

Farmhouse damaged in huge hillside blaze

BLAZE: The fire rages
 FIRE swept across the Ochils on Monday night – burning dangerously close to nearby homes in Alva.
 
Rhodder’s Farmhouse, just outside the town, suffered slight damage when it was set alight by sparks caught in the loft of the home.

 SAUCHIE activity leader Sandra Gruar was named Clackmannanshire’s Citizen of the year 2009 for her desire to help the area’s young people spend their time in a productive way.
 
The group offers diverse classes and workshops from sign language and first aid to sports clubs and health and beauty.
