![]() WHO'S THAT GIRL: Stephanie Armitage Lornshill Academy pupil Stephanie Armitage will skip on to the nation’s screens in the live semi-final this Sunday (July 25) as part of the all-Scots dance troupe Blok. The 15 strong group are gunning to become the first-ever winners of the show – a tribute to smash-hit US comedy Glee.
The 16-year-old starlet is the third Wee County dancer to make an appearance on national television recently, following in the dancesteps of Blok troupe-mates Emma Bonella and Rachael Davidson, who reached the semi-final of the BBC’s Move like Michael Jackson in December last year. But where that show was just about the dancing, Don’t Stop Believing requires singing too, and Blok – also the official cheerleaders for Glasgow Rangers FC – have called on the considerable vocal talents of former X Factor finalist Nikitta Angus to give them the edge. Sixth-year pupil Stephanie – who plans to do highers in drama, admin and maths – has been with Blok for just over a year, having been asked to join by manager Kay Lang after making a big impression during dance lessons. And she thinks the group have a good chance of making it through to the show’s final. She told the Wee County News: “It’s terrific that we’ve made it this far, and I think we’ve a good chance of making it through. “It’s the first time we’ve put together singing and dancing, but we’ve helped each other out and having Nikitta on board is brilliant. “I’m not nervous yet, though that might come later in the week. But whatever happens we’ll do our very best.” Blok have emerged from thousands of entries to reach the televised semi-final stage. And Kay, who set up the troupe through her dance company Kay Klass, hopes fans in the Wee County will vote in force to help them through. She said: “The girls are delighted they have made the semi finals and are now focused on training hard on choreography and singing, which they hope will impress the star judges and viewers at home. “The girls hope the addition of Nikitta will give them the cutting edge to dazzle, as they are combining both singing and dancing talents. “They’ll put on a performance like no other, but they need the viewers at home to pick up the phone and vote. The girls hope the strong Scottish support will help to take them through to the final.” You can watch Stephanie and the girls live on Sunday night (July 25) from 7pm on channel 5.
