![]() JUBILATION: David McClune celebrates The Wasps were outplayed for the majority of Saturday’s clash with bottom of the table Clyde and had to rely on a late wonder strike from David McClune to claim a point.
After the game Maitland said: “I was disappointed with a lot of aspects in the game but I wasn’t disappointed with our attitude, we kept fighting till the end and it was probably a very exciting game to watch for the neutral. “We will need to improve of we want to win anything this season. “Our goalkeeper was outstanding today and was named man of the match, which shows how much we had to do to get a point today. “We knew we were going to face a Clyde side that would be far different from the one earlier in the season and they were excellent. We never found the pace of the game. “Today we were not playing the Clyde team who are bottom of the league. That team has vanished. They have brought good players in and they showed how good they can be.” And the Wasps boss had special praise for centurion David McClune, saying: “He has been an outstanding signing for us and this season has been better than any other for him. He was originally brought to the club as a midfielder and had injury problems but he’s been a great signing and I’m delighted for him.” Ahead of the midweek trip to Dumbarton, Maitland said: “With all the games coming up, squad rotation is going to be very important but I was forced to make changes at half-time today and that is something I need to look at.”
