PARTNERS: Sammi and Brenda Mitchell
CLACKMANNAN motorcylcle racer Sammi Tasker has received a great boost as legal firm Digby Brown have renewed sponsorship of the teen motorcycling sensation.

After becoming the first female to win a Scottish Road Racing Championship at the tender age of 15 Sammi has the racing world at her feet.
Brenda Mitchell, Partner at Digby Brown, heads up the motorcycling department.
She said: “I am delighted to confirm we are continuing with our sponsorship of Sammi and will be looking at providing others with support.

“As well as working in the field of motorcycle law, our team is also very passionate and involved in the world of motorcycling.

“In these recessionary times it is important that businesses do what they can to support riders like Sammi.

“I would appeal for businesses to see the potential there is in this form of sponsorship, and little stars like Sammi, and pledge whatever assistance they can.” Sammi, has been riding since the age of six and was the first femlae to win a race in the 75-year history of the Melville Motor Cycle Club at East Fortune near Haddington.

She competes against men twice her age and size – and wins. She was the first female to win two key championships, the Melville Motorcycle Club Open Championship and the North-east Motorcycle Race Club Championship.

The Lornshill Academy pupil, who rides a bright pink Aprilia RF125, said: “I am extremely grateful for the support I receive from Digby Brown – it makes the difference as to if I compete or not.

“I love riding my motorbike. It’s an exciting thing to do and it feels great to be winning the competitions.”

Digby Brown have a long history in the sport and have their own specialist motorcycle team, all of whom have learned how to ride a motorbike.

In 2009 the firm sponsored seven riders, including Britain’s first paraplegic sidecar racing driver Kerr Douglas, two motorcycle clubs, the Grampian Motorcycle Convention and the round the world charity adventure TransGlobeMoto. The firm, which has offices in Dundee, Glenrothes, Edinburgh and Glasgow, also supports safety initiatives BRAKE and BikeSafe.

The firm is committed to further sponsorships to support riders before the motorcycle season revs back into gear in April 2010.
