![]() TUNEFUL TWOSOME: Coco's owners The group, who released their very own “tastefully naked” calendar just last week, decided to make the single to raise more cash for Women’s Aid branches across Scot-land. The song hit the airwaves last week when Central FM introduced its listeners to the tune. And the radio station has even asked the girls to sing at the Stirling Christ-mas lights switch-on later this month – an invitation that they immediately accepted. They have already amassed an incredible £13,000 through their calendar alone and are keen to carry on the success. Morag Hill and Katherine Cram, who own Coco’s Hair Salon in Alloa, shot to fame in the summer when it emerged that their fund-raising efforts had been spurned by the national branch of Women’s Aid. The organisation turned down the cash saying: “We do not support the sex industry and have an issue with women removing clothes.” Following that surprise refusal, media across the world picked up on the story and the women have since appeared in the New York Post, New Zealand Herald and the Boston Globe. They even made a brief appearance on popular TV show How to Look Good Naked by Gok Wan. And it is this new-found fame that the girls hope will help push their record up the charts. It won’t be officially released until January but the women say the full fun of the song is best captured by watching the video alongside it. Morag Hill, who had the idea to make record the song as a sellable single, said: “We just wanted to raise more money for Women’s Aid while we had some fun again. “Almost all the same girls who were in the calendar are in the video, apart from just one or two who just couldn’t make it along for the recording. “When we were doing the calendar photoshoot we were all quite nervous beforehand but now we’re all quite blase about the nudity thing – it’s very much a case of ‘been there, done that’. “We chose the song Calendar Girls for obvious reasons, but really we just wanted a cheery wee tune to sing. “It’s fantastic to be asked to the lights switch-on and it means people are obviously keen to hear the song – which is really rather nice! “I’m shaking al-ready at the thought of going up on the big stage but it’s all in the name of fun.” The calendars will be on sale from the girls’ hairdressing shop at 39 Drysdale Street, Alloa, or also from the Wee County News office. If you want to hear the girls in full singing voice, you can see the video on Central FM’s website. The single itself will not be released until the new year but will be available to download from iTunes and Spotify.
