 FED UP - Tom Adam A FORMER Clackmannan councillor has hit out at the local authority for their part in the noisy freight train nightmare for local residents. Ex-Labour councillor Tom Adam, 77, who lives in Brucefield Crescent, slammed Clackmannanshire council for failing to inform the public that freight trains would run during the night.

 DENIAL: Charles Perrie blamed black ice A WHITE van man from Alva has been found guilty of careless driving after careering into three children and their grandmother. Charles Perrie, of Caroline Crescent, lost control of his van and mounted the pavement, smashing into the family as they walked to school.

 VISION: Architect Colin Machin (right) MILLIONS of pounds are set to be invested in creating a new super village with over 1200 houses, a hotel and golf course at Forestmill near Clackmannan after Scottish Ministers ruled this week that the development could go ahead. The plans by the Muir Group were facing a public inquiry but in a sudden move this week the inquiry was cancelled.

The second meeting of the Alloa 7-0 Supporters Club and the ex-Alloa Legends was played on Saturday at the Recs. In an enjoyable game, the ex-players were victorious for the second year.

 TRAILBLAZER: Kathryn Gillespie DOLLAR record breaker Kathryn Gillespie made a big impression over the weekend after breaking records and winning the Race for Life at Stirling University. The 12-year-old runner won the race after setting a national record in the her age group at Grangemouth on Friday of 2min 17.56 secs, breaking the previous record which had stood for 26 years.

 WINNING FORM: Lauren Forsyth LOCAL swimmers were on superb form at the Alloa Open Competition, which was held in Stirling. Particularly successful were Calum Ferguson, from Alva, and Lauren Forsyth, from Tillicoultry.
